BRONX ZOO
Name a Roach
You could buy flowers and candy for Valentines Day, but why not do something your loved one will remember – name a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach.
The Bronx Zoo launched this organic social campaign with a $2,000 production budget to raise money for conservation and boost relevancy in slow winter months. For $15, we invited people to symbolically name one of the Bronx Zoo roaches after a loved one, with options to buy roach-themed items like pins, hats and roach-shaped chocolate.
In total, the campaign raised over $125,000 and received news coverage as far as California.
Why roaches? Because flowers wilt, and candlelight fades, but roaches are forever.
