Bronx Zoo – Name a Roach

You could buy flowers and candy for valentines day, but why not do something your loved one will remember – name a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach.

In an organic social campaign, and $2,000 in production budget, the Bronx Zoo launched this campaign to help raise money for conservation, but also to boost relevancy in slow winter months. For $15, you can symbolically name one of the 50,000 roaches after a loved one, with options to buy roach themed items like pins, hats and roach shaped chocolate.

In total, the campaign raised over $125,000 and received news coverage as far as California.

Why roaches? Because flowers wilt, and candlelight fades, but roaches are forever.
